Abstract

A review of naturopathy interventions for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) including dietary therapy, yoga, stress management, and herbal protocols. Case data from 35 women shows improvements in menstrual regularity, insulin sensitivity, and androgen levels.

PCOS is the most common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age, affecting 8-13% globally. The condition is closely linked to insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, and lifestyle factors — making it particularly amenable to naturopathy intervention.

We reviewed outcomes from 35 women (ages 22-38) who completed the Women's Wellness Balance program at Kshemavana. The protocol included anti-inflammatory diet therapy, daily yoga (with emphasis on hip-opening and hormonal-balancing asanas), pranayama, stress management through meditation, and herbal formulations.

After the residential program and 3 months of home protocol adherence: 71% reported improved menstrual regularity, fasting insulin decreased by 22%, free testosterone decreased by 18%, and AMH levels showed normalization trends. BMI decreased by an average of 1.8 points in overweight participants.

Naturopathy offers a comprehensive, root-cause approach to PCOS management that addresses the metabolic, hormonal, and psychological dimensions of the condition simultaneously.
