About This Therapy

What is Acupuncture ?

Acupuncture is a foundational component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in which ultra-thin, sterile needles are inserted into specific meridian points across the body. Based on the principle that health depends on the free flow of vital energy (Qi) through pathways called meridians, acupuncture aims to restore balance and stimulate the body's natural healing response. It addresses a wide spectrum of physical and mental conditions — from chronic musculoskeletal pain and migraines to anxiety, insomnia, and hormonal imbalances — making it one of the most globally adopted complementary therapies.

Procedure

How It Works

Initial consultation : The therapist reviews the patient's health history, symptoms, and wellness goals to identify the appropriate meridian points.

Preparation : The patient lies comfortably on a treatment table; the targeted skin areas are cleaned with an antiseptic solution.

Needle insertion : Ultra-thin, single-use sterile needles are gently inserted at specific acupoints, typically causing minimal or no discomfort.

Needle retention : Needles remain in place for 20–40 minutes while the patient rests; mild warmth, tingling, or heaviness at the insertion points is normal.

Adjunct techniques (if applicable) : The therapist may apply moxibustion (heat), cupping, or mild electrical stimulation alongside needling for enhanced effect.

Needle removal and post-care : Needles are carefully removed, the patient rests briefly, and aftercare instructions such as hydration and rest are provided.
