About This Therapy
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology — also known as Zone Therapy — is an ancient holistic practice rooted in the principle that specific points and zones on the feet, hands, and ears correspond to organs, glands, and systems throughout the body. By applying precise, controlled pressure to these reflex zones, a trained therapist stimulates the body's natural healing response, improves energy flow, and supports the function of corresponding internal organs.
At its core, reflexology is a deeply relaxing and rejuvenating experience that calms the nervous system and promotes whole-body harmony. It is practised at Kshemavana as a systematic, evidence-informed modality — bridging ancient wisdom with a structured therapeutic approach to restore vitality, relieve tension, and promote lasting wellbeing.

Procedure
How It Works
Consultation — the therapist reviews health history, current complaints, and goals; feet or hands are inspected for skin conditions, tenderness, or sensitivity.
Foot soak & preparation — feet are cleansed and relaxed in a warm aromatic soak to soften tissue, open circulation, and ease the patient into a receptive state.
Relaxation strokes — gentle warm-up movements across the entire foot prepare the reflex zones and establish the patient's comfort level with pressure.
Systematic zone work — the therapist applies thumb-walking and finger pressure methodically across all reflex zones of both feet, noting areas of tenderness that indicate imbalance.
Focused treatment — additional time and pressure are devoted to zones corresponding to the patient's primary health concerns (e.g., digestive, hormonal, neurological).
